Every client you will ever have will try to negotiate with you.
Most of us are bad at negotiations.
Especially when our livelihood is on the line.
But we may be all right with bargaining at a thrift store.
Here is the number one thing to do if you suck at saying a price confidently:
Create space to answer in 24 hours. (or more, depending on context)
This way, you can regroup, crunch the numbers, and write something down.
You may already know your numbers but be unable to communicate them confidently. It is better to say nothing than speak from fear.
Here are some lines you can use:
“Thank you for all the useful information. I will get back to you in 24h with a quote.”
“Let me crunch some numbers and get back to you with a quote.”
Or any other variation of the above.
